T-MOBILE LIMITED TO PROMOTE CHILD SAFETY

03/05/2010

PHOENIX (Feb. 22, 2010) - Five T-Mobile Limited stores in Maricopa County are partnering with the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office to help parents record vital information about their children to help locate them in the event they become lost or missing.
According to the National Child Identification Program and the Department of Justice, an estimated 800,000 children go missing each year - that's one child every 40 seconds. The five T-Mobile Limited stores will host Maricopa County Sheriff's officers to fingerprint children who come in with their parents as a first step in completing the Child ID Kit. Parents will then be given the free kit to take home, add personal information (i.e. child's date of birth and current photo) and keep on hand in case of an emergency.
"Child safety is a top priority for the Sheriff's Office," said Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio. "The first three hours after a child goes missing are the most critical. The information in these Child ID Kits will quickly provide law enforcement officials with valuable information, and by having the kits prepared ahead of time, parents won't have to worry about significant details that can often be hard to remember under stressful circumstances."
